The law amends Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, according to which, a fine of one thousand to two thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens will be imposed for illegal use of the attributes of belonging to the National Police of Ukraine in the absence of signs of an act prescribed by the Criminal Code of Ukraine, or the illegal use on the vehicle of the name of the National Police of Ukraine or derivatives thereof, in including those set out in a foreign language.
The same violations (including the disclosure of signs of affiliation in a foreign language, on clothes, vehicles, buildings, forms of documents), committed by state authorities or local self-government, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, as well as public associations, are punishable a fine of 2 to 3 thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.
Similar actions committed during the year are repeatedly provided for fines for individuals in the amount of 3 to 4 thousand non-taxable minimum incomes, and for enterpreuners and officials - from 4 to 5 thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.
In addition, the law amended the Law of Ukraine "On National Police", noting that the signs of belonging to the police are police symbols, police uniforms, special ranks, departmental awards, a special badge and a police officer certificate.
Only police officers can use the name of the police or its derivatives, including the foreign language, and signs of belonging to the police. Use of attributes in other cases is permitted only by a decision of the head of the police.
The law came into force today, 2 November, with the exception of the provision on fines: it will come into force six months after the date of publication of this Law - that is, from May 1, 2019.
