How To Get An Electronic Digital Signature

Although electronic digital signatures (EDSs) have been operating in some countries for more than 30 years, in 2003, EDS was introduced in Ukraine. However, even now, they have not become widespread. Mostly the EDS is executed in case of need. For example, employees of state and local government bodies - for submission of electronic declarations. responsible persons of various organizations and enterprises as well as natural persons - entrepreneurs - in order to go to their personal cabinet on the website of the State fiscal service to submit tax reporting via the Internet without spending time in queues etc.

Note, for ordinary citizens, digital signature could also be useful. For example, for obtaining information and registration documents in the Pension Fund, for obtaining a certificate of absence of a criminal record online, for ordering a foreign passport and for many other online services (the Ministry of Justice, the Fiscal service and others, especially state ones) which require reliable identification of the user .

Moreover, it is worth knowing that an electronic document signed by the EDS has the same legal force as the usual paper document that a person signs himself. If necessary, the transfer of the signature rights to a trustee also takes place without laborious and costly procedures.

There are three options for obtaining EDS.

The first option. If you are a client of PrivatBank, you can use the Privat24 service to receive an EDS. To do this, go to the menu «All services» / «Business» / «Download certificate». Fill in the application for a certificate, according to the passport data. Please note that the field "E-mail" is required to fill. Next, select the directory where you have write privileges, to create a file of key storage in it, and create a password for the file (the minimum password length is 8 characters; it can include letters of the Latin alphabet and numbers). After that, you will need to enter the password you received in the SMS or mobile application Privat24. An application for a certificate will be generated automatically - a message will appear with information about the number and validity period of the certificate.

The second option. You can contact one of the qualified e-trust service providers. Their list is at the link https://www.czo.gov.ua/ca-registry. This will require 4 steps:

- collect documents;

- to register at one of the Certification Centers;

- come to the Center with documents and a clean carrier of information (flash drive or DVD-R disc);

- with the help of specialists generate keys and burn them to the media.

As for documents - you will need to prepare the following:

- registration card (for a physical person) of the established sample, completed and signed in duplicate;

- a copy of the signer's passport (copies 1-2 pages (3-6 if there are marks) and a page with a note on registration of the place of residence);

- a copy of the taxpayer's card, certified by the owner's signature.

- For foreign citizens: a copy of the certificate for a permanent (temporary) residence, certified by the owner's signature, or passport of a citizen of another country with a notarized translation into the Ukrainian language.

And the third option. Retirees may receive an EDS along with an electronic pension certificate. To do this, contact the nearest territorial authority of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
