This law introduced amendments to the Laws of Ukraine “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons” and “On Citizenship of Ukraine”.

The law recognizes such foreigners and stateless persons (who participated in the protection of the territorial integrity of Ukraine) as being legally on the territory of Ukraine, and allows such persons to obtain a temporary residence permit in Ukraine while participating in the protection of territorial integrity and inviolability. The law also establishes restrictions on the voluntary or forced return of such foreigners and stateless persons to the aggressor state or countries that do not recognize the territorial integrity of Ukraine or support aggression against Ukraine.
Yes, the aforementioned persons may not be forcibly returned to their country of origin or a third country that has committed an act of aggression against Ukraine, or to a country that does not recognize the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine or refuses to recognize the illegality of encroachments on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, in particular against the UN General Assembly Resolution on Territorial Integrity of Ukraine of 27 March 2014.
In addition, the amendments simplified the procedure for the admission of foreigners and stateless persons into Ukrainian citizenship who provided practical assistance in protecting the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
