From now on QES can be written on the ID-passport

Citizens of Ukraine who have an ID card are able to enter a qualified electronic signature (QES) on a contactless electronic carrier (chip) of an ID card.

What benefits will this have for the user? First of all, the introduction of a service for entering a qualified electronic signature on an ID card will give citizens the opportunity to use various electronic services of state bodies, to receive administrative and banking services, to open and conduct business, etc., without leaving home. In addition, the ID card as an electronic signature bearer is readable by all operating systems, data validation, automated identification tool and used as a reliable protection by the CEP.

The service will be provided free of charge and will be accessible to citizens of Ukraine who are 18 years of age or older. At the same time, the term of validity of certificates of keys of QES will be 2 years.

There are currently two ways to get a service:

- immediately after receiving a new ID card - in the territorial unit of the LCA at the place of registration of the person;
- to write on the previously issued ID card - in any territorial unit of the SMS, regardless of the place of registration.

To record QES on an ID card chip, you will need a PIN (PIN 2), which is personally specified by the owner of the ID card when receiving it.

Citizens will be able to use the CEP from the ID card as soon as they receive from the MIA ACSC a message containing respectively the subscriber's registration number in the register of the MECA's ASCS signers and information about the validity of the generated CEP key certificates and passport holder encryption (as provided, the service becomes available.

Registration of the QES and inserting it on the chip ID card is optional and is optional.

It should be noted that the experience of universal use of electronic signature on ID-passport has long existed in such progressive countries as Germany, Estonia, Australia and Singapore.

For reference:
