The State Environmental Inspectorate will receive the status of a law enforcement agency

The State Ecological Inspectorate will officially receive the status of a law enforcement body, which will make it possible to effectively counteract the shortcomings of inspectors at the enterprises they inspect.

This was announced by the head of the State Ecological Inspectorate Andriy Malovany.

In particular, for non-admission will have to pay a fine of 50 - 200 non-taxable minimum incomes, undergo correctional work or be arrested for up to 6 months.

According to Andriy Malovany, the problem of non-admission of inspectors to enterprises today actually paralyzes their work:

"Currently, any head of the plant where the inspection came can simply order the security guard at the checkpoint not to let the inspector pass and he can do nothing. Instead, we must not forget that according to the Law" On Environmental Protection " State Ecological Inspectorate has law enforcement and We have the right to stop and inspect vehicles, seize tools of illegal actions and illegally obtained resources, freely inspect enterprises, deliver violators to law enforcement agencies, "Andriy Malovany stressed.

According to him, only the full legal enshrinement in the Regulations on the inspection of the status of law enforcement is missing.

"I very much hope that this will happen in the near future, the Cabinet of Ministers will make a decision. Then for non-admission of the inspector to the enterprise the violator will fall under action of article 343 of the Criminal code of Ukraine. It provides for a fine of 50-200 non-taxable minimum incomes, correctional labor or arrest for up to 6 months, - the head of the State Ecological Inspectorate said .

In addition, inspectors will be covered by all guarantees of protection against encroachment on life, health or property - theirs or their relatives.

"Environmental inspectors need to be respected in society and not considered 'beating boys' for business owners. To do this, on the one hand, it is necessary to systematically fight corruption in their environment, and on the other - to increase the legal status, pay a decent salary and demand quality effective work, "-  Andrew Malovany said.
